Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your provider will apply a medical-grade skincare solution with salicylic acid, malic acid, resorcinol, or a combination that will loosen the bonds between dead skin cells, so they shed or peel off post-treatment. Not everyone will visibly peel, and if this is you, rest assured you are still receiving an effective exfoliation process.

  • Following a chemical peel, your skin will shed its dead cells, and the peeling can be macroscopic, where you actually see and feel the skin peeling, or microscopic, where the cell turnover is happening on a less visible scale for 3-7 days. You may experience immediate redness or tingling, and redness or swelling is common for up to 3-7 days post-treatment.

  • Moisturize the treated areas and protect your skin from the sun every day. Wash your face with cool water to help soothe the skin post-peel. Avoid strenuous workouts, dry saunas, or steam rooms.

  • You will see immediate results following a chemical peel, and your skin should be mostly healed by day 7. Depending on your skin concerns, your provider may recommend a treatment regimen of 2-3 chemical peels for optimal, long-lasting results.

  • Stay hydrated and moisturize your skin leading up to a chemical peel. Avoid sun exposure, shaving, or waxing in the 2 weeks leading up to your treatment. Your provider may also recommend you stop certain skin care products, such as retinal's, acids, or benzoyl peroxide several days before and after your treatment.

  • The intense pulsed light (IPL) photofacial with a chemical peel will give you outstanding anti-aging and hyperpigmentation targeting results and is a very popular combination among our patients.
